Having originated sometime between the early 2000s-2010, diamond painting is a relatively new craft, so I’ll give you a brief overview in case you’ve not come across it before.
Diamond painting is the art of placing tiny resin rhinestones with a flat base (known as diamonds or drills) onto an adhesive canvas, to make up a beautiful shimmering mosaic-like image.
I have a few diamond painting blogs for beginners, so if you’d like to learn more about this craft, I’d recommend starting with 6 diamond painting tips & techniques for beginners.
To learn even more and get some inspiration, I really recommend heading to TikTok or YouTube and finding some diamond painters that you enjoy watching. Social media sometimes gets a bad rap, but it can be an amazing source of inspiration for all kinds of crafts.
Here are 5 of my favourite diamond painting content creators that I think you should follow.
1. @samvangeen on TikTok for diamond painting unboxings
Sam is from the UK and showcases lovely diamond painting kits and tools from different companies, including our very own Meloca Designs diamond painting kits that she’s shown in a couple of Live sessions (so sadly we can’t link you to a video!).
Sam often does TikTok Lives, in which she works on diamond painting projects or chats through her latest purchases. She announces them a few days before and puts in her TikTok bio so that you can register for reminders, making sure you never miss them.
She’s got 84.9k followers and is really good at communicating with her followers, always answering questions about diamond painting, and just generally being a helpful and welcoming member of the diamond painting community. Sam is a great one to follow if you’re a diamond painting newbie.
In addition to all of that, Sam also releases her own diamond painting designs and kits - see her newest collection in this video - which I think is pretty inspirational in itself.
2. @diamondpaintwithcaitlin on TikTok for ASMR diamond painting videos
Caitlin is also based in the UK and has an amazing 300k followers on TikTok, where she shares diamond painting unboxing videos, featuring diamond painting kits and accessories, and she shares her diamond painting tips, tricks and hacks too.
She also creates super relaxing ASMR diamond painting videos, with the soothing sounds of creating her diamond paintings, as well as her drill storage, set-up, and finished diamond paintings. They’re really calming to watch.
In Caitlin’s link in bio you can find lots of discounts for diamond painting kits and tools, which is great if you’re just starting out and don’t want to spend loads of money on something you’re not sure you’ll like yet.
Plus, she sells her very own diamond painting accessories in her Etsy shop, like release paper (used to cover and protect the stickiness of your diamond painting canvas) and cover minders, which are used to pin back the plastic film of your diamond painting.
3. Rachel Rae on YouTube for calming diamond painting content
Rachel is based in Ireland and has 57.3k subscribers to her YouTube channel, where she shares diamond painting unboxing videos and showcases projects she’s working on.
She also has lots of helpful videos for diamond painting beginners or those who need advice on specific things, like sealing a finished diamond painting, and shares diamond painting kits and tools that she loves.
Rachel’s chatty videos, in which she works on her current diamond painting project and talks about what’s going on in her life are really calming. It’s so nice to watch her carefully place drills while listening to her lovely voice.
If you’re into cross stitch as well as diamond painting, she’s got you covered, as she also has a cross stitch YouTube channel (known as flosstube in the cross stitch community) where she shares all the cross stitch projects she’s working on.
4. Diamonds and Washi on YouTube for helpful diamond painting videos
